nothing will change. she knew back then that he couldn't keep that promise to her, but still, she stuck by him. a small part of her clinging onto the hope that maybe, just maybe, he would prove her wrong. but when his popularity skyrocketed almost immediately after that show ended years ago, she knew. hana’s eyes flickered with frustration, her hands clenched at her sides as she stood in front of him. she knows that she's been busy with her own life, focused on her skating, but that doesn’t mean she’s forgotten about him. "you're right, i haven't been checking in on you lately. and you want to know why? because anytime i do, you get defensive. i try to ask how you're doing, and all i get is the same cold answer, or worse—nothing at all. it's like you think i'm attacking you for no reason." she took a deep breath, her voice softening slightly. "you stopped letting me in, seb. how can i be there if you won't let me?"

hana’s words didn’t hit sebastian as hard as they should have, because he was acutely aware of each trait she listed. he knew he’d been a bad friend lately, but he couldn’t get out of his own way long enough to fix things. when he was scouted to audition for x-factor, he swore to hana that nothing would change. a decade later, as he sat on her unfamiliar bed, everything had. it should hurt him to hear that she’s fed up with him, but her words fall on numb ears. “the point is that we’re best friends, han. it’s not like you’ve checked in on me lately.” voice comes out raspy, as though he’s forgotten how to use his words. “have you considered that there might be something going on with me, too? that if i’m always in a terrible mood and i’m unbearable to be around, maybe i’ve got shit going on as well?”

And happy (sort of) birthday to this blog! 🎂

So it’s not my blog’s official birthday (I think that was a few weeks ago) but today is officially one year since I made my first post sharing a drawing of my MC. I’d never properly engaged in fandom before (I was on tumblr in my teens but was too scared to actually interact with anyone or anything 😅) but I’m so glad that I decided to take the plunge this time and do it.

I’m very grateful to this game for inspiring me to go back to art after such a long break. I didn’t realise how much I’d missed it until I started again and how important having a creative outlet is for winding down at the end of the day. I’ve also enjoyed having little goals and projects to work on, and having more of a sense of purpose and direction with my free time. I know I’ve still got work to do, but I’m proud of the progress I’ve made so far and I’m excited to see where I might be in another year.

But more importantly, I’m grateful to have met some really wonderful people through this fandom. Brain-rotting over the game and characters, as well as other things, has genuinely been one of the highlights of my year and I’m very lucky to be surrounded by such inspiring and talented people.

And finally, I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone here! To the artists for putting out some beautiful pieces and inspiring me to keep improving, to the writers for putting out some amazing fics and basically keeping me entertained for a whole year, and to everyone that’s still around and keeping this fandom going! ❤️ fingers crossed this year, we’ll get some proper news on the sequel!
